Background

The BARRE is a boutique barre and mat Pilates studio located in Long Beach, California. Founded by Amanda Parsons DeRosier, the studio offers a signature blend of classes inspired by the original barre method and the classical mat Pilates system. Each class is designed to build strength, flexibility, and balance while encouraging a deep sense of connection through movement.

Amanda’s journey to opening The BARRE began several years ago when she discovered barre fitness after the pandemic. What started as a personal pursuit for wellness and community became a life-changing experience that inspired her to share the benefits with others. Through the practice, she found strength, confidence, and a supportive community. At 40, she achieved the splits for the first time, an empowering milestone that reinforced her belief in the transformative power of mindful movement.

The BARRE was created to extend that experience to others. The studio blends traditional methods with a modern approach, offering a warm and inviting space designed to feel like home. With an emphasis on fun, friendship, and fitness, The BARRE has become a place where wellness feels joyful and accessible to everyone.

Working with Pure Resonance Audio

When Amanda began planning the design of her studio, she knew that music would be an essential part of the experience. Each class relies on rhythm and energy, and she wanted a fitness studio sound system that could deliver clear, balanced audio throughout the space. The fitness center sound system included a single Pure Resonance Audio SD4 SuperDispersion drop ceiling tile speaker array that provides 360° of crystal-clear audio coverage for a 30' x 30' area. It also features an MA120BT commercial mixer amplifier that supports playback from Bluetooth-enabled devices, allowing staff to easily play and control music throughout the fitness studio. The included remote lets them adjust volume levels, play or pause music, skip tracks, and more, all from a distance.

Reflection

For Amanda, every element of The BARRE, from its design to its sound, serves a purpose. The studio is not only a place for physical movement but also for meaningful connection.
